At Monday night’s Town Hall meeting, Mayor Wayne Redekop expressed his gratitude to the Fort Erie Fire Department.
Crews from Stations 2, 3, 4 and 5 responded to a reported structure fire at 92 Central Ave. at 9:48 p.m. on March 14.
A fire started in a shared garage and migrated into the house at 92 Central Ave. Fire Chief Ed Melanson estimated damage to the home at $150,000. He also said the fire caused heat damage to the neighbouring house.
Redekop said about 41 firefighters worked quickly to knock out the fire and eliminated hot spots.
The cause of the fire was investigated by the Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal and it was determined to be an accidental fire.
No injuries were reported.
“On behalf of council, I would like to extend our appreciation for the excellent work (volunteer firefighters) have done protecting people and property in Fort Erie.,” he said.
