The Ridgeway Farmers’ Market Is Off To A Good Start

Christine Whelan FEO, May 25, VOL. 4 ISSUE 20

The Ridgeway Farmers’ Market enjoyed its first day of the season Saturday, May 13. Flowers were given out to the women in honour of Mother’s Day the following day. There was face painting for the kids and music for everyone.

Melissa Drulia, the new Farmers’ Market Coordinator, commented a few days later, “The first market went off smoothly. There were a couple of little glitches but nothing that can’t be fixed this Saturday.”

All vendors from the previous year have returned. That made things much easier for Melissa as the vendors knew what to do. Some vendors have been a part of the market since day one.

Ridgeway is extending the experience of the market, which is located centrally, across from the Village Square. The businesses along Ridge Road in the downtown core will be participating. So, walk up the street and check out what’s happening each Saturday. It’s a great time to support the local businesses.

Ridgeway is excited for the summer days ahead. Watch for new things to come. The Ridgeway Arts and Music Festival will be held July 7-9. Lakeside Books and Art will be hosting a local author every Saturday.

The Ridgeway Farmers’ Market will run every Saturday 8:00 am – 1:00 pm. Every year, it begins on Mother’s Day Saturday and finishes for the season on Thanksgiving Weekend Saturday, wrapping up with the Fall Festival. This year, it lands on October 7, 2023.

For any questions and to inquire about being a vendor, contact Melissa Drulia by emailing her at iceschedulerfe@gmail.com.
