Did You Know That…“Seven is Your Lucky Number?”
That is correct! Every golfer has all the necessary ingredients to play golf well. The question is, “Do you know what you have”? There are seven key checkpoints one should be aware of that will guide you to successful golf shot making. These seven ingredients are all transferable to every golf shot you may experience on the golf course. Your personal golf swing, and it is personal, will be determined by these seven key ingredients. Therefore, do not assume they are correct; make sure they are correct.
Here they are:
1: Clubface alignment: You should aim the face of your golf club at the intended landing area. This is your first opportunity to send the ball to its final resting place. You do not aim the feet, the hips, or the shoulders at the target.
2: Hand position on the grip: Make sure your hands are placed correctly together. It is important that you select the correct hand position for the size of your hands. There are three choices to make. You can choose an overlap, an interlocking and finally a ten finger/ baseball hand position.
3: Ball position: The ball position should be placed one clubhead width inside the front foot. Once you establish you ball position it should remain constant. You read correctly. If you want consistency, then you must have constants.
4: Stance: The feet should be placed parallel to the selected target line. Never are they aimed at the target.
5: Posture: The posture should have you bend forward from the hips to the shoulders until the club touches the ground, then unlock the knees. This posture also must remain constant.
6: Balance: The weight should be evenly placed on the whole of each foot, and the body weight should favor the backside (55%) and the front side 45%……and finally
7: Where your eyes look when looking down at setup. If you are looking at the ball, you are looking in the wrong place. Whaaaaat! You will find out in future articles.
Every single golfer or potential golfer has all these ingredients. The question is “How well do you know them?”. And if you know these seven steps and know them well, I can take you to whatever level of player you wish to become.
