Sanctuary to host night of howling belly laughs on the weekend

A night of howling belly laughs is on the way to the Sanctuary Centre for the Arts in Ridgeway.

The Sanctuary will welcome comedians Dylan Gott and Peter White on their Homecoming Kings tour Saturday, Feb. 23. The Homecoming Kings tour marks the first stand-up show for the Sanctuary.

Gott and White are both alumni of Montreal’s Just For Laughs Festival and have both appeared in several additional Canadian comedy festivals as well as their own specials at home and internationally.

Gott, calling himself “Canada’s Answer to Garfield” on his website, has a knack for turning nerd culture on its head and a reputation for honest delivery of his material. He jokes about growing up in the 90s when the only anti-bullying advice came from local moms and not Facebook’s “mom groups.”

Peter White has been performing stand-up since 2005 across Canada. He has also written for his hometown paper, The Halifax Chronicle Herald, Vice’s online magazine, and This Hour Has 22 Minutes. His multi-faceted work has earned him nominations for Canadian Comedy Awards and a Writers Guild of Canada award.

White’s “clean” delivery is still able to tackle weightier topics like homophobia or cracks in the education system without leaving anyone out on the laughs. A night at a gay bar for a straight male, for example, can be a surprisingly empowering experience and make you wonder about how dating has changed. The show begins at 8 p.m. with doors opening at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available at Brimstone Brewing Company and For more information visit
