The Port Colborne Sailors lost a tough one at home on Friday, October 3, as they succumbed to a late Elmira goal and fell to the Sugar Kings 6-5.
The Sailors held a 2-1 advantage in the First Period on Joshua Lamb’s first goal of the season and went up 2-0 on a Marcus Harris’s fourth goal. During the Second Period, the Sugar Kings capitalized on two Power-play goals to tie the game at 4-4. The Sailors received scoring from Hunter Vilanez, his 5th and Jake Salvatore with his First. The Third Period saw both teams score, with Salvatore picking up his second of the game before Elmira eventually getting the winner with just under four minutes to play.
Elmira outshot Port Colborne by 34 – 25 margin. Both J.D. Low for the Sailors and Liam Ried for the Sugar Kings came up with several key saves to keep their teams in the game Next up at home for the Sailors will be the Ayr Centennials visiting on Friday, October 17th, and then the Hamilton Kilty Bs will be in town on October 24th. Both games will start at 7 pm at the Vale Health and Wellness Center
