Rotary Club of Fort Erie donation boosts counselling efforts

South Niagara Life Ministries received a boost to their counselling efforts with a $2,000 donation from the Rotary Club of Fort Erie.

Rotary president John Maurice, president-adjacent Scott Broda, and member Ian Johnston presented the cheque at the Ministries’ Bertie Street location April 10.

The Rotary Club is always looking to help out local charitable organizations, so when Kathy Klune from South Niagara Life reached out to Broda, they set up meetings and got it done from funds raised through the club’s bingo and auction.

South Niagara Life Ministries was established 27 years ago and operated out of a location on Jarvis street until 2004. Their new building was donated, and from there, they reach more than 1,000 people yearly for counselling.

Donations help to offset costs to provide services at no charge. “The money will go 100 percent back into the ministries we provide,” said executive director Martha Beroud.

“By being able to have these ministry services, we allow people to share their testimonies which are sometimes very intimate and personal,” she said.

“The donation is greatly appreciated and we are grateful.”
