This past week I was able to reacquaint myself with one of my favourite Canadian cities. Montréal is as effortlessly cool as the people that call the city home. European flair abounds in Old Montréal , reminiscent of the great cities of Europe. It is charming and sophisticated in an old-world style.
How to get there.
From the Niagara Region, you have a few options for visiting Montréal. It takes 7 to 8 hours to drive from the Niagara Region, accounting for a few stops along the way. As part of the Windsor – Toronto – Montreal corridor, Via Rail operates daily trains to Montreal from the Aldershot station in Burlington. With a short layover at Union Station, it takes about 7 hours each way. There are great views of Lake Ontario on the relaxing ride.
Where to stay.
Montréal has a variety of hotels to suit every taste and budget. The new Hampton Inn Downtown Montreal is a great choice for those looking for a hotel that offers clean and comfortable rooms with a free breakfast.
