Lighthouse Restaurant on the Parkway: Open For The Holidays

Christine Whelan FEO, December 8th, 2022, VOL. 4 ISSUE 8

Chef Harminder, the owner of the Lighthouse Restaurant on the Parkway, says he and his staff want to bring out the charm of the Niagara Parkway area and are sending out invitations to come out and enjoy the view. “We want to bring the community together.”

Located at 4301 Niagara Parkway, Stevensville, on the corner of the Niagara Parkway and Black Creek Road, the restaurant, Lighthouse Restaurant on-the-Parkway, opened its doors under new ownership in August 2021, but, dating back to the 1800s, the building has been around for nearly two centuries.

“We plan to stay open throughout the year.” Chef Harminder wants the community to know this as the previous owners closed around this time of year and residents who have lived in the area for more than a few years may assume it will be closed again.

Not only is it open, but it’s alive with colour. “It looks like a Santa house.”

As the days get closer to Christmas and more people come out to the Black Creek area, activities such as bonfires set up outdoors are planned.

“We have quite a few decorations up. Also, we are excited to have Santa coming for a visit on December 18. Kids can come and get their pictures taken with Santa for free.”

Chef Harminder Singh, who is trained in French & Indian cuisine, opened his first restaurant, Coriander Green, in Oakville in 2005. He ventured into several food-related businesses and had his own cooking show.

The chef talked about the special menu they are offering for the season. “It is very affordable for our local people. We know things are tight this time of year with Christmas upon us. People are on a tight budget. We wanted to try and help make it easier with a special menu for the season. We have multiple cuisines so our customers can enjoy a variety to choose from.”

The menus can be found on the Lighthouse Restaurant on-the-Parkway Facebook Page.

This Past Year

“We have added a variety store on the side of the building. We sold a lot of ice cream in the summer. We also sell lottery tickets. People are coming for the tickets. It’s convenient for the locals because we carry some of the staples. They don’t have to go very far when they run out.”

Harminder talked about this past Halloween. “We had a lot of kids come for trick or treating. We gave away ice cream on that day.”
