An update for port colborne readers

Over the past year, we’ve been proud to deliver Port Colborne news into homes across the city, supported by truly wonderful advertisers.

Like many small businesses, however, we’ve faced rising costs and ongoing challenges. In our first year in Port Colborne alone, three Canada Post disruptions and unexpected tariffs on supplies made day-to-day operations increasingly difficult.

Advertising is the lifeblood of a community newspaper and relies on trust and follow-through. When commitments aren’t honoured, the impact is felt by everyone.

Under the weight of these combined pressures, sustaining a full print operation has become increasingly difficult, and for now, we are unable to maintain both community papers. As a result, door-to-door delivery of the Port Colborne Observer will be discontinued.

That said, Port Colborne has no shortage of great stories. We’re proud to continue sharing them through a new What’s Happening Port Colborne section in the FEO.

Papers will remain available at the Port Colborne Library, Canadian Tire, Sobeys, Bodner’s, Avondale’s, and the Market Cafe, with hopes to restore full delivery in the future.

We still encourage Port Colborne groups to share your stories with us by sending them to jenw@forterieobserver.ca
