PORT COLBORNE — Portal Village Retirement Community welcomed residents, families, and friends on September 13 for its Annual Family Day. This cherished tradition brought the community together for a vibrant day of entertainment, food, and connection.

The event featured a lively lineup of performances, including a rousing musical set by the Fort Erie Legion Band. Guests of all ages were delighted by crowd favourites such as Klinker the Clown, the Holy Hands Puppets, and a dazzling magic show by local illusionist Nick, whose sleight of hand left onlookers in awe.

Adding to the festive atmosphere were local food trucks, including Lock Pizza and Marble Slab Creamery, serving up crowd-pleasing treats. Children flocked to face painting stations, leaving with bright, colourful designs and smiles.

A standout attraction was the popular Car Show, showcasing an impressive array of classic and specialty vehicles. Portal Village extended heartfelt thanks to the local owners who proudly shared their prized cars with residents and visitors alike.

Organizers praised the tireless efforts of staff and volunteers whose dedication made the event a resounding success. Special recognition was given to Jennifer Parker, Director of Recreation, who was celebrated for her outstanding leadership in planning the event. Parker has been with Portal Village for an impressive 36 years and continues to play a vital role in fostering community spirit.

For over 20 years, the Annual Family Day has become a beloved tradition at Portal Village, which is known not only for its scenic location near Lake Erie but also for its welcoming environment and strong sense of community.
