Church to host Valentine’s Day Tea

Fancy a spot of tea?

Members of the St. Andrew’s-Knox Presbyterian Church are planning a Victorian Valentine’s Tea for Saturday, Feb. 16 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Guests will have a chance to sip tea, or hot chocolate and enjoy an assortment of treats including cookies. There will also be crafts and homemade baked goods.

“It’s our second annual Valentine’s Victorian tea and it’s always a lot of fun,” says church parishioner Lesley Kinghorn.

The idea to host an annual tea party came about when some of the women from the church attended a similar event hosted by a different organization.

“It was such a great time, we decided to do one of our own for the first time on Valentine’s Day last year,” Kinghorn explains.

The church also held a Christmas Victorian Tea at the beginning of December last year, and while it was a small crowd that attended, it was a success.

“Everyone had a lot of fun. There were a lot of laughs and some people even came dressed in Victorian clothes,” Kinghorn says.

While dressing up for the occasion is not mandatory, Kinghorn says putting on Victorian attire adds to the fun. She will arrive to the tea in style, wearing a cloak she purchased at a Renaissance fair.

Tickets are $10 per person and the money raised from the tea will be used to fund children’s programs at the church. To reserve a seat, call 905-871-3450.
