“It was just over two years ago that we

began planning this expansion to support our company’s long term strategic growth objectives”

said Andrew Harber, CEO. “Through the planning process we were so happy to be able to find

a suitable parcel of land allowing us to stay in the Fort Erie community”. The Harber family is celebrating 75 years of business in Fort Erie, ON this year. Harber Manufacturing was started by Andrew’s grandfather, Blair Harber Sr., in 1946 as a manufacturer of folding aluminum chairs. The company transitioned into Abatement Technologies in 1988 and carries that same name in its 3rd generation of family ownership and operation. “Through access to skilled labour and support from the community we have had the agility to respond to market opportunities. Transitioning from chairs to wood stoves, then aluminum boats and now the advanced suite of products offered under the Abatement Technologies brand we have been able to remain rooted in Fort Erie” said Blair Harber Jr., President

“The overwhelming support we have received from his Worship Mayor Redekop, Council, Town staff, FEDTC, the Region, and the MTO have made it possible to continue our longĀterm commitment to the Town of Fort Erie and the Niagara Region and we can’t thank them enough”. Andrew went on to say ‘We have ambitious goals and we are committed to achieving them here in our community”.

The new facility will allow Abatement Technologies to continue to compete on a global scale by driving efficiencies and bringing processes currently spread across multiple sites under one roof. The company currently employs 170 people across North America. 100 of which are located at the existing Fort Erie sites.

“Our company has been built by the hands of more than two generations of Niagara residents. This new facility allows us to keep these jobs in the community and create new opportunity for generations to come. With this facility acting as our global headquarters, we will need a variety of talent including Manufacturing, IT, Marketing, Finance, Operations, and Research and Development to support our growth plans” said Andrew.
