The 3-on-3 Challenge, sponsored by Tim Horton’s, was back in Fort Erie last weekend at the Fort Erie Leisureplex.
Fifty-seven teams participated with more than 30 Fort Erie teams for age groups under eight years to under 20 and men’s recreational and open teams.
The event attracted Junior B, Junior A, Ontario Hockey League and Kontinental Hockey League talent. Even National Hockey Leaguer Ben Harpur of the Ottawa Senators participated in some good fun on-ice and a little off-season training.
With more than 50 teams participating, squeezing in the ice time was a challenge, but it was worth it for the $1,561 raised for Head Injury Association of Fort Erie.
Jackie Denham accepted the donation between games Saturday on behalf of the local non-profit organization which is devoted to helping people cope with brain trauma. Claire MacSweyn helped co-ordinate the charity table in the lobby of the Leisureplex.
